This variety does very well in Southern California, producing extremely abundant harvests reliably.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe characteristics of this squash will vary from plant to plant, since the seeds are very genetically varied. This is not a stable variety, each seed as its own unique mix of genetics and characteristics.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLA Wonder Winter Squash description\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTexture: Not as dry as kabocha, but not as squishy as a pumpkin.  Usually about right in the middle, meaty but soft, and generally very moist.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFlavor: Sweet-ish, but not very sweet. (I wish it was a bit sweeter, the variety lost its sweetness over the years).  Nutty and pumpkin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSize: Depends on the plant, but generally between 7lbs and 14lbs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eProductivity: Very productive.  We generally get 15 to 20 squashs (or about 200 lbs) per vine.  One year we harvested 46 squashes from one vine (around 400 lbs).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStorability: High storable.
