Known for its rich, distinctive flavor, Coffeecake is the first persimmon to ripen in Fall. The fruit is typically large and round, with a sweet, complex taste and brown flesh that gives it its name.
When pollinated, it develops its best flavor and loses astringency, and when unpollinated, it stays astringent. The ‘Chocolate’ persimmon serves as the ideal pollinizer. Very dependable producer.
This easy to grow tree produces fruit very reliably in Southern California and has almost no significant pests or diseases to worry about. Chocolate Persimmon trees can grow to be very tall, but size can be maintained through pruning. Harvest fruit once fruits have become bright orange.
